Canción de Bilbo

Bilbo canta esta canción cuando se encuentra despidiéndose de Frodo, poco antes de que la Compañía marche en su viaje al Monte del Destino.

Me siento junto al fuego y pienso
en todo lo que he visto,
en flores silvestres y mariposas
de veranos que han sido.

En hojas amarillas y telarañas,
en otoños que fueron,
la niebla en la mañana, el sol de plata,
y el viento en mis cabellos.

Me siento junto al fuego y pienso
cómo el mundo será,
cuando llegue el invierno sin una primavera
que yo pueda mirar.

Pues hay todavía tantas cosas
que yo jamás he visto:
en todos los bosques y primaveras
hay un verde distinto.
